I believe LAX does not have an on-site location for any of the rental company. It has the "purple station" where people wait for the appropriate shuttles. There is a plethora of car rentals. Dollar was the most packed shuttles if I remember right. Hardly anybody was on Hertz and their lot was huge. Everything else seemed like a few people would get on including Enterprise. I can't remember how Avis was. It seemed as if LAX had every car rental in the business and I wouldn't be surprised it if they did. They also had a few locals which I never would have know until seeing them. One of them as mentioned above was http://www.bnm.com/bev.htm.

Also once you are getting off the airport, they have BMW advertisements that tell you to text this number but I wasn't sure what the deal was with that one. Do they have a dealer at the airport or a dealer that rents bmws? I just remembered now and can't find anything about it.
