Sorry to rain on this parade, but there are definitely some "holes" in your swisscheese because that kit is not capable of displaying two "secondary" sources at the same time like the INViSiON kit can.
For example if you want to plug in an iPod Video and plug in an Xbox at the same time, the BMW system has to be viewing the BMW DVD source as 1 of the main sources. It can then play a "secondary" source to compliment the main source which has to be playing on at least one of the screens. From this setting you can then jump one of the secondary source's to play on both screens as well but you can not play 2 secondary sources at the same time. With the INViSiON system any source can be played at any time.
But you are correct about losing the origianal BMW OEM Headrests, but how suberb are they when they don't have a DVD player and RCA jacks built into each headrest. And INViSiON is the only aftermarket solution for BMW's with Comfort Seats and being able to still keep the vertical movement of the headrests.
