Since those are probably your biggest assets on that computer, you may want to consider removing your hard drive, and take it to a computer shop to diagnose the hard drive and retrieve/copy all of your pictures prior to a potential failure (I can walk you through how to remove it). If they determine that it is a hard drive issue, you can pick up a new hard drive, they are pretty inexpensive, and then have the same computer shop transfer over everything from the old drive if possible.
