So How should I go about upgrade? Is it just the matter of getting right DVD and intert it into it and after sometime I will be done OR I'm looking at some complicated steps..!!
Looked at www.navteq.com and the DVD is priced around USD 199! Is there anyone who might be interested in selling 2007.02 version for North America..?? I live in California.
Thanks a lot,

You can sometimes find new (or relatively new) DVDs on ebay, but keep in mind that there are 2 types of DVDs, one for the older Nav systems (like your car) and one for the new iDrive systems.
Your car uses: High DVD
iDrive uses: Professional DVD
The best retail price I know is $175 from Tischer. See:

I have a 2005 M3 also, I upgraded the Nav software to the newest version; see this link:

Read this article as it explains that there are 2 components to the Nav system; the actual Nav software and the maps. The maps are on a DVD and you can update the maps by inserting a newer Map DVD (such as 2007.2). The Nav sofware (which reads the maps, displays the info on the screen and does all the calculations) is burned into the Nav computer and can be upgraded with a special upgrade CD. Upgrading on your own can hose your Nav computer, but if you get a copy of the Nav software and burn the CD correctly and follow the diretions that are posted on the web, it is not a difficult process.
I did it myself, but the dealer may do it for free (probably only if you request it) as the car is under warranty. The newer Nav software has a much nicer map drawing routine (among other things) than the version that came in my '05 M3.
