I bought a Dinan Cold Air Intake from a fellow forum member a little while back. When I got it and figured out where all of the bits should go, I discovered that someone had cut a hole into the aluminum and hooked up some dryer ducting to connect to the OEM air intake scoop over the fan. (At first I was not sure what was stock to the kit and what wasn't. The dryer ducting didn't look all that stock!!)
Well the aluminum went off to be welded and then the whole CAI went off to be powder coated. (Comes back next week, 1st week of September!!) I was also missing some of the screws and mounting hardware. I decided not to Home Depot the parts but to call Dinan and see if they would sell them to me. Not sure why but I had a fair amount of skepticism of obtaining the parts from them. I really thought their answer to me would be that they only deal with original buyers of their parts. I could not be more wrong.
After playing phone tag with one of their sales reps for a few weeks I finally got to talk to him. He could not have been any more accommodating!!! I was able to order all of the bits that I needed and they shipped them off to me. Oh, the sales rep has a 540 wagon with all of the Dinan goodies!
All in all an interesting experience from the dryer ducting to the welding and the powder coating and finally ordering some bits from Dinan. Heck, I think with the extra time and $$$ I should have bought a new CAI!!
Oh, I also learned I was saying the name of the company incorrectly. I had always pronounced it "Din' en" when in actuallity it is pronounced "Dine' en".
