I have rambled on in several past postings, with my opins
on extended warranties: in a nutshell, it is a somewhat
pricey ins. policy that offers protection and a safety net
for these beasts. If you don't have to use it, they win;
if you get some thing(s) covered during the policy period
you will probably be ahead, fwiw.
One can argue to skip it, "bank the dough", (which no one
does), or just pay up when it's ball breaking time. I will not
persuade anyone to cough up for any Ext Warr., "just to be
covered".
However, if you do feel it's an ok/good/better bet:
then grab either the BMW 2OP coverage, (which is not as
inclusive as the oem coverage and, only available to orig. owner),
or, a BMW CPO covered used car, (both 2OP & CPO are basically
the same coverage),
or, cop a 3rd party Ext Warranty.
Several of us here have Warr.Direct and some of us have used it
with good results. The myriad list of other 3rd party warranty deals
are not as well known and few here have the experience in using
such. Do your own DD...A Stlr telling you that "such and such" is
not accepted/sucks, is their choice but, is disingenuous at the least
and typical stlr bs, imo. There are other stlrs in most metro areas
and privateers that will gladly take a 3rd party warranty. These cars
break but this is not a freakin Ferrari or rocket ship...fixable.
As to the levels of coverage, even WD and the other few legit programs
change their offerings weekly/monthly as the actuarial tables get filled
with repair data/history, so what I bought 2+ years ago is not the same
program(s) any one offers today.
Do you own DD and if you choose one, cut the fookin hand wringing,
understand that you are "covered" for most crazy crap and go drive the
sumbitch and enjoy the ride.
My FiftyCent is up in the ol'Juke Box...
