I have 55k on my X and the clutch pick up being so funky compared to my 911/miata/308 I am wondering if I would notice the clutch slipping. Any clues to how I would notice? How much should I expect to pay for the clutch replacement? Is at 55k my X on borrowed time as far as the clutch is concerned? Engine rebuild at 52k? Can I ask what caused the need for a rebuild? I thought the engine was the only bullet proof part of the X? UGH
Will not doing the 60k void my CPO?
What do you think about Warranty Direct? I am thinking if I keep the X a third party extended warranty might not be a bad idea.
Thanks again for the advice.

A clutch replacement w/ Dual Mass flywheel will run about $1600-1900 or so at an independent mechanic.. dealer quoted me $1300 for parts alone.. they charge $400 for the clutch kit, $850 or so for the flywheel..
The engine was burning excessive oil, ~ 400 miles per quart by the time I took it to my dealer and complained loudly enough for them to do a leakdown test... When this test was done they found one of the exhaust manifolds stuck open and not enough compression in most of the cylinders... The mechanic at the dealer said could be a cause of not changing the oil enough.. (looked at service history and long and behold, first oil change by prior owner was done at 17k miles !!! ) another mechanic said, only cause would be, someone took out the air filter or incorrrectly installed an aftermarket one and ran the car causing particles to get in the engine causing the piston rings and gaskets to go bad..
Doing the 60k miles service won't void your warranty, but you should make sure your mechanic uses OEM BMW parts and BMW 5-30w synthetic oil you get from the dealer..
