I guess if providing a link to pictures regarding how to remove said head unit and hoping it would educate you is being a smart ass then so be it.  That's the guide i used when I installed mine.

I was concerned taking out the unit and not being able to identify the extra connector. Hopefully there is only one.
The pictorial tutorial is on a UK version of the X5. That generates understandable apprehension.
