True...Contrast ratios can be difficult to judge by numbers alone. That said you can really tell the difference between two sets that have varying visible contrast ratios. Nothing worse than a washed out picture or foggy dark scenes.

Too bad the displays can't use the ANSI scale (like projectors). This uses 16 alternating black and white rectangles and measures the average light output from the white rectangles and divides them by the average light output from the black rectangles to come up with a measurement.

Which one looks better? Which one has the best contrast ratio?
