Remember, a bug is when something does not work as it is designed to do, and if we don't know what the design specifications are, we cannot really say something is a 'bug'...

I reported it back to BMW via my dealer through a PuMA case - BMW required my dealer to run parallel tests on a car with V26 or earlier and V27 or later software. They used my vehicle and one of their stock cars.Mine was on V26 and theirs was on V28.
They took the car to a known place where I had noticed the 'bug' and then took photo's of both screens. This was passed back to BMW technical who concurred that it WAS a bug and would be resolved but probably not in the next release (which was V29or V29.1).
This bug can be a REAL issue as I have described before. In the UK, many towns and villages have streets with the same name - High Street, Church Road etc are but two that immediately spring to mind. So, if you perhaps break down, come across an accident or even have an accident somewhere you don't know, you could look down at the nav and give your location as High Street but the town locator would be the nearest MAJOR postal town, not the actual town you are in. As a real-life example, near where I live there is a small town called Portishead. It has a HIGH STREET. BUT, when you are there, your location is given as HIGH STREET, BRISTOL. This is a major city some 15 miles away!
Now, I know that I am in Portishead, but if I was a visitor, on a dark wet night who had broken down, then I wouldn't necessarily know that.
12 months or so ago (perhaps longer), BMW concurred that this level of information was unacceptable - lets face it, it potentially makes the nav useless for anyting other than route planning as you don't (readily) know where you are at a given point - regardless of whether you have route guidance on or off.
TBH, if they DON'T resolve it, I am going to go back to running the hacked V26 that Martin Bishop developed that DID have the correct town info displayed AND would allow running in perspective mode.
The only issue is that I cannot recall if Postcode searching worked in V26 - I think not.
IMHO, for us in the UK, this 'bug' is a real issue - but it's funny that many people who have upgraded from V26 or earlier never even realised there WAS a difference in the way locations were displayed- until I pointed it out and then realisation (and annoyance) dawned!
