MD, why don't you do a "System Restore" to a previous date before you installed the updates? Win XP automatically saves restore points for you.

Go to: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Choose a date before you installed the updates and see if it will revert your system back to that previous configuration. You will lose anything you have saved or added since that date and now but it would get you computer back to normal again.

Another option might be to uninstall the updates. I do believe that is possible, I think it states that in the text for the updates somewhere, but you would need to know exactly which ones they are.

EDIT: BTW, I installed a few updates Tuesday night I think, 3 or 4, but nothing I'd call really "big". I also run Norton but I've had no problems at all. Definately looking at NOD32 though for my next machine though, from what I hear it's not as much of a resource hog.
