That being said, it's definitely worth noting that Consumer Reports fine print says "... Differences of less than 3 points are not meaningful. ..." so I would say that reliability is not an issue across brands --- 20 to 23% of laptops have repairs or serious problems.

I think you are right all laptops have a high repair rate and it is probably worth while getting extended repair warranties.
