The floor mats are exactly that....rubber mats not unlike the regular carpeted mats, but rubber. The floorliners are moulded soft thermoplastic liners that are placed directly over the floorboard carpets. They have about a 1 1/2" lip all the way around to contain any spills. The liners are vehicle specific and are an exact fit. I have both. I put the rubber mats over the floorliners.
