The purpose of Airport security is not to protect anyone. The purpose is to give the appearance of protection and safety. Those in charge know very well that nobody can hijack a plane without inside help. And if you have inside help, then those doing the security could certainly be part of it. If you have funding, it would not be difficult to bribe a security person who makes $12 per hour.
