Thanks. I did search, but did not find a suitable answer. I also read a retrofit article. I removed the cap on the bottom and tightened the 4 torx screws with no to little change. I then went further into the mirror and undid an additional four torx screws...this was basically the motor and gears. I lubed the gears and reassembled. No change. The plastic on the base seems to have a few detents molded into i, and they have a bit of wear...maybe that is the source of the problem, but I am not sure.

Any other help?
