The OEM conditioner WILL work, but you have to use it regularly. After a few weeks, you will notice the plush feel, and more importantly, you will not get the "off the shelf" smell that some conditioners leave. Its not an overnight process unfortunately. Ive been doing my seats about once every other week for 6 months with OEM conditioner, and I am just now starting to notice the resisitance to stains, and other residue.
