The 'left and right' movement is the 'Adaptive' Headlights option. It is not that necessary and even though I have it on mine, to be honest I don't really notice it doing that much. The only time you can really see it working is slowly turning say into a sidestreet with a hard lock on. I initially thought it would be more noticeable but I think it only moves 15 degrees to the nearside and 7 degrees to the offside (or amounts similar, can't recall the exact figures without looking at the brochure).

The important part of a Xenon install is the auto-levelling so as not to blind oncoming traffic. The adaptive was a cost option (in the UK at least) and not standard with Xenon from what I remember. Similarly bi-Xenon was an option with the standard being Xenon on dipped beam and Halogen full beam.
