So far, according to GM, the GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid will get a 40 percent better fuel-economy than their standard versions, which would give them both 19 to 20 miles to the gallon. Now the EPA has announced the official government ratings which are close to GM’s numbers.

According to the EPA, the 2WD versions will get 21mpg and the 4WD will get 20mpg. GM is hoping to sell 10,000 units annually of both hybrid SUVs combined. While pricing has yet to be announced, analysts expect them to be in the mid-$40,000 range.

When the Yukon and Tahoe Hybrid debut this fall, they will be equipped with, what GM calls, a two-mode hybrid that uses two electric motors.
