I don't think that is necessary to have a booster connect under the hood. As long as when tighten the POSITIVE side of the terminal don't let the wrench touch any metal (most part of the body of the vehicle is ground). When there were a shortage or sparks, then you have more problems later on. Could be battery drain with no reasons, fuse burn out, computer goes nuts. etc.....
