Simply that there is no 3.5 or 5.0, whether i, l, or otherwise. The X3 and X5 models are the 3.0, 4.4, and 4.8, signifying engine displacement.

The 35i and 50i are X6 designations, signifying not displacement but rather some sort of 'power equivalent' as they are in fact 3.0tt and 4.4tt models.

What I am driving is shown in my signature - 535 is equivalent power to the X6 35, most likely.
