I test drove both before buying my X5. I also looked at boards like you are. The internet is a great way to do your background research. I think both are good vehicles and certainly both are 'hot'. Resale will likely be better with the X5. And NOTHING will drive like a BMW. The X5 feels and handles in a more car-like fashion than the RR. I felt the RR tended to oversteer on corners. Neither will be as reliable (or as boring!) as a Toyota/Lexus, so go into it with proper expectations. Good luck with your decision.
