ok so I finally got the system working. What should have been a 1.5 hour install job actually took a whole weekend and an evening working on trying to diagnose the fault.

Turns out the rs232 to ULF cable shipped had a misplaced pin, pin 7 should have been in place 6 and this was the cause of the system not recognising the ULF. A pretty simple fix later and everything now works. Its a very cool system now its working but the install was a PITA when a simple checkbefore shipping could have saved me a load of hassle. Martin was good once he got involved in helping me diagnose the error but I would have preferred to have not had to mess around at all to get it working.

Solution posted to help anyone else with a similar issue.
