i don't claim to be a tire expert but i really don't believe tires blow out with the frequency they did years ago. if your pressures are correct and you don't have extraordinary weight on the truck, then i see no reason other than a faulty tire for a blow out.

i always have heard the real basis for a run flat tire was to eliminate road side changes and thus keeping people from getting killed while changing tires. whether they handle catastrophic punctures better than a normal tire i can't say.

i am sure i am now due for about 8 flat tires in the next few months.
