I know about about medical programs. Currently, the most medical programs you will find run on Palm OS.

So, if you need a Smartphone that runs most medical programs, you'll need a Palm OS smartphone.

If you have Verizon, Treo 755p
If you go with Sprint, Treo 755p or Centro
If you go with AT&T, currently Treo 680, but the AT&T Centro is coming out really soon.

Yes, the Palm OS is antiquated and no it isn't flashy like the iPhone, but if your goal is running medical program on the Smartphone, then stick with Palm OS for now.

Windows Mobile do have some medical programs, but not the plethora of choices like on the Palm OS.

However, next year may be a different story.

I currently have a Treo 700p and have tons of medical programs that I am running and as a smartphone, it does plenty of things well such as push e-mail using Chatteremail, PIM function, internet access and web browsing (yes, not as neat as the iPhone), but at least with the Treo 700p, 755p, Centro (Spring), you'll have DSL speed & there are plenty of mobile-specialized website.

Google maps has been available on the Treos even before the iPhone came out.

The Treo/Centro have the best SMS program built-in. Also, using the Treo keyboard, I can hammer out text messages to my staff in no time....can't say I can do the same with the iPhone virtual keyboard.

The best Epocrates suite is only available for Palm OS. The WinMob and Blackberry version are the simple versions of Epocrates.
