Thank for the great write-up fepat55. I just replaced the driver's side seal and the only thing I didn't do was use soap and water (too lazy). I also just ended up using the rubber handle end of the hammer to seat the seal. Worked like a charm! Also thanks to Davis BMW in OH for the part! Waaay cheaper than the Canadian stealerships...
