That is somewhat incorrect. CPU IS just as important as RAM since the processor is needed to compress what is ripped (usual wav), into MP3. You'll see a big difference in compression speed when using a c2duo or p4 compared to celeron. 1 gig of ram and a non-celeron processor is all you need, and more than that shouldn't be a noticable difference.
