Really consider the BMW 1100S (the boxer cup version has no centerstand). I have one and I love it. You can do a lot of things with this bike - make it a commuter, turn it into a sport tourer or, as Nate Kern has proven this year, race the heck out of it. You can make the bike as comfortable as you want, you can add bags and go two-up and some models have heated hand grips and ABS.

With a new R1200S out soon, new and used R1100S bikes are reasonable. Stop at a dealer and see what kind of deals are going on. They might still have low financing and a few free months of payments.
