Brian, I think Vizio is fine, for what they are. I have a 42" LCD Vizio in my living room, and it's really nice, especially for the price I paid for it at Costco.
In the family-media room, where all the "serious" TV happens, I have a Sharp Aquos 50" LCD set. Waaaay better imaging, and nicer all around. but it was at a much higher price.
But for the money, Vizio does it's job very well. Just be sure to feed it a true HD signal via HDMI cable. Anything less won't be as nice a picture. And RGB or analog signals on HDTV sets don't display very well.
