I tried a couple of the cheaper FM modulators and found them to be terrible for a couple reasons. One was sound quality and the other was not being able to maintain the frequency very well.

I was skeptical of buying another FM modulator, but a salesman at Best Buy said that a number of their guys were using the Transpod unit.

Since they have a 10 day return program, I decided to give it a try and I have been very pleased with it. It is not inexpensive but is built very well. It has a digital tuner with 4 digital presets or it can be manually tuned to any station. Sometimes in big cities, I will have issues as a strong local station will try to overpower the unit. It is very easy to manually change frequencies, so I move up or down the frequency range until I get a clear station. The sound quality is not up to CD level, but it sounds at least as good as a good strong FM station, which is sufficient for me. I like that it is easily transportable between cars. It also charges the IPOD during use.
