So the M5 is not really overrated then as far as performance is concerned, you just happened to have mechanical and drivibility issues with your particular car, right? You experienced issues mainly with the SMG trans (which is known to be problematic) and the tire pressure monitoring system. That would irritate me too if I paid that much for a car, but I would have bought the manual, which is known to be MUCH more reliable in BMW's and avoided your biggest issue all together. I would think that the number of M5's bought back by dealers is not a significant percentage overall and I am sure that nobody is going to return the GT-R due to buyers remorse when they wake up the morning after purchasing it and realize that they have a $100k Nissan in their garage.

Also, M5 engines from previous generations have been know to require up to 1-quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. This is not an issue that is new to the e60. We all know the M5 isn't going to save anyone any money at the gas pumps, but keep in mind that the GT-R is projected to weigh over 3,800 pounds, so if you are driving it as hard as required to get those great performance numbers then I wouldn't anticipate it to look like a hybrid when compared to the M5.

I will agree to disagree with you on this one. Go ahead and pay $100k +/-for a Nissan and enjoy it. I am sure you wont experience any problems or bugs in this car at all due to it being a completely new concept/model. I would also not anticipate any extended waiting periods with a loaner car while your GT-R is being serviced due to the dealer not stocking parts specific to the GT-R. It is a "limited production" vehicle after all and most dealers aren't going to stock parts for a car that they may only sell one or two of.

My choice would be well cared for, pre-owned e46 M3, I could pick one up for $40k drop another $5k-$10k in tasteful mods and laugh my way to the bank with the left over $50k, but to each his own.
