Is this normal since this is an Suv? or is this a sign of an alignment problem which is made worse in the wind? I always assumed even though it sits higher than a car which makes it more vunerable to wind and less aerodynamic that the added weight of the vehicle would make it even more stable at highway speeds in the wind.
Would be interested to know if you have Active Steering option? I do and I have noticed that cross-winds have much less of an impact on my highway driving than I expected. And I went to the 2008 X5 from a 328i.

Cross-wind impact is definitely more noticable in my wife's MB SUV than the X5.
