I have the 3rd row seat w/o spare so I got myself a used OEM style 210 with 255-55-R18 non RFT from a local reputable tire shop. I only paid $150 dollars. I just tossed it in the trunk. It does take up a lot of space but just like you, I wanted peace of mind when I drove up to the mountains for a weekend ski trip.
