Guys - I have a bit of a problem.

I went out today with the OS disc to carry out the language order changes as I mentioned above, and it was very straightforward, the system loaded the appropriate languges from the disc and booted back up, I've selected GB, USA, DE.

Later on I tried the "Query VIN" function again, and switched the radio off as suggested by Jochen to cut down on I-bus traffic. Whilst it was doing this the car's screen changed to a very lo-res white one with the immobiliser code input request displayed. I entered all zeros and hit "deactivate" and the alarm went off!! Having silenced the alarm with the key, the screen only returned to its normal state when I switched the radio back on.

Now, every time I turn the key in the ignition it goes to the code input screen, and regardless of what code I enter, (0000 or 0001) when I hit the "Deactivate" button the alarm goes off and I can't start it.

Help !!!

UPDATE :

Problem solved!

It would seem that for some reason my Navcoder is generating random events, which included generating a random immobilser code. I looked back through my logfile (thank God for this facility!) and noted the following, ignore the times as my laptop isn't updated yet :

15/02/2008 03:03:57: 3F 04 7F 40 0D 09
15/02/2008 03:03:57: DIA --> NAVE: Read adjustment value, Data="0D"

15/02/2008 03:03:59: ASP --> ANZV: Text display update: Code "2359", Background_update

So I looked further down the logfile and noted :

15/02/2008 03:05:01: ASP --> ANZV: Text display update: Code "2352", Background_update

So I thought logically as all computers do, and inputted the last Code value in the file (2352) and the immobilser/alarm deactivated. Much relief all round!

There are also other items that mysteriously change while NavCoder is running :

15/02/2008 03:03:26: 3F 04 7F 40 01 05
15/02/2008 03:03:26: DIA --> NAVE: Read adjustment value, Data="01"
15/02/2008 03:03:26: 80 0C E7 24 01 00 20 35 3A 35 33 20 20 67
15/02/2008 03:03:26: ASP --> ANZV: Text display update: Time " 5:53 ", Background_update

....and the car's time display is changed to 5:53

15/02/2008 03:03:29: 3F 04 7F 40 02 06
15/02/2008 03:03:30: DIA --> NAVE: Read adjustment value, Data="02"
15/02/2008 03:03:30: 80 0F E7 24 02 00 30 36 2E 35 34 2E 32 30 35 32 4C
15/02/2008 03:03:30: ASP --> ANZV: Text display update: Date "06.54.2052", Background_update

....and the date is changed.

15/02/2008 03:05:35: 80 0D E7 24 09 00 31 30 36 20 4D 50 48 20 25
15/02/2008 03:05:35: ASP --> ANZV: Text display update: Limit "106 MPH ", Background_update

....and the speed limit warning is switched on at 106 mph.

There are many others in the file as well, the above parameters (immobiliser code, time, date, limit, and also range, timer1, timer2, etc) were all changed several times. I did notice that there seemed to be a common element every time things changed, and that is the 2 lines of code which precede such changes, with "Read adjustment value" in the second line.

Jochen - any ideas why this is happening?
