I was looking into the obligatory track and tracing module the insurance company's are requesting to install and found 3 types of systems using two technologies:
1) GPS with GSM system, everytime you start the car you need to push a "hidden" function to mute the system. Else the GSM send out a signal to a control room and they call you to check if the car is stolen.
2) GPS with GSM system, no button, nothing to do. Only when the car is stolen you call the control room and they locate it for you.
3) VHF beacon, little VHF beacon installed in the car, when it has been reported stolen the control room use their own pick up antennas to try and find the car. They can even use team via car or a plane. (allow to be traced even when in a container or parking lot)

All three systems require an install and monthly fee.

Does anybody have the pro's or cons of those systems?
What are you guy's using and where did you get the system installed?

Thanks all for the feedback.
In North America most will use Lojack or Boomerang. Which are similar to #2.

www.lojack.com
www.boomerangtracking.com

BTW from what I am told not all systems are compatible with the X5 since the X5's systems constantly monitor the vehicle for any voltage swings, the slightest draw will set of the alarm. I was told that only Boomerang 2 should be installed in NA.
