You are correct. OS's are a personal choice. In my home, I have 5 computers running OS X that are zero maintenance, 4 Windows Vista computers of which only one of them (and new PC) isn't an extreme hassle, 1 Windows XP computer that is marginal and two Linux machines that I never touch. It is my experience with 12 computers that OS X is an OS I would pay for and and the ones I DIDN'T pay for (Linux) still work better than Vista.
