I usually fall on the side of the police and give them the benefit of the doubt but this was a case of excessive force. This officer was way out of line and needs to learn some people skills. Sure the driver was being stubborn but the force level used by the officer was not in line with the threat. He was with his wife and kid and did not seem to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or psychotic in any way.

What level of force would you suggest? Have you ever been tasered? Very unpleasant for 5 seconds, but then it is over. No residual effects (other than change in attitude, and a great desire not to experience the Taser again).
