My personal advice when getting pulled over. Yes sir, No sir, both hands on the wheel. No reaching in the glove box or under the seats for documentation unless he or she asks. Also don't lie...If you are speeding chances are the officer already knows. Lying only implies the officer is lying or a fool.

Also..I keep my paperwork in the drivers side visor which conveniently covers my hardwired V1 radar detector when pulled down. I am also respectful where I pull over being sure to take into account the safty of the officer having to stand at my drivers window. One last thing I do is at night I turn on my interior light when I pull over. That way he can see inside the entire vehicle on approach.

I'm in Business Development/Sales in a large territory. I drive long distances some of which is quite rural in Northern California. I have no tickets in 10 years and I've been pulled over about 7 times in that period. 6 of the events ended with a warning to slow down and the 7th I was pulled over by a CHP who already let me off earlier that month. I was able to take Drivers ED on-line to remove that one ticket from my driving record.

Usually the V1 gives me enough advance lead time to slow down and since the birth of my son I'm watching my speed. As you BMW owners know 10 miles an hour over the speed limit seems slow in a BMW. We really should have our own posted limits all things considered.
