I recently bought an X5 Skid Plate from a US dealer as they are not a UK available part, pricing as follows;

Skid Plate @ $199
Shipping @ $70
Tax/Duties @ $54 / £27

TOTAL: $323 / £165 approx

Now the interesting bit, I went to my local BMW approved dealer and they quoted me £346.63 inc vat for spraying and fitting

They tried to justify the cost by claiming the bumper needed to be removed in order for them to fit the skid plate, strange as the instructions that come with it didn't state that. Basically it has 7 screw fittings, 4 of which are at the rear of the plate and use fitments that are already in place on the bumper. The 3 front screws need drilling but once the rears are in place it looks pretty straight forward.

Anyway with that I went to a recommended body shop and they are spraying and fitting it on Saturday for £80, bargain

My X5 is Carbon Black and the skid plate is being sprayed Titan to match my grills.
