Adding bluetooth is your best option. Don't even think about the standard BMW phone as it is a small fortune and doesn't provide the flexibility of the BT phone system.
Your vehicle may already have the necessary wiring if you have a 54pin plug in the trunk (somewhere by the CD changer area). If not, you may have to get the retrofit kit and put in the wiring harness yourself. Not a big deal if you're good with taking apart the vehicle. I believe the 6230 also has a snap-in adapter.
