There is more support in the stock plastic sides than one would think (I would know because I had to drill through metal underneath the plastic for two of the mounting holes). Now for repeated use day in and day out -that could be another issue. But since I have no kids and the truck is actually pretty low, there is really no need to use them. They are there for aesthetics - and I think they complete the truck nicely

Love those wheels.. I was thinking about the standard 4.8 wheels (not sure the #)... but these look amazing.. sort of like the ones i have already but more Y spokes. Very nice, these must be 20s. also interested in how much and where..
