I have spoke to people before doing this and they said it would be fine. What I did was bought a MK IV nav computer. And seen as I was not really bothered about having TV, I took the blue plug out of the TV and used that in the Nav. Everything works fine apart from there is no nav voice. All the volumes are up and not muted, the radio even goes quiet while it is supposed to be speaking and then turns the voluma back up!?!?

Here's the obvious thing to do:
Unplug nav and plug in the TV tuner
Switch to television
Tune into a TV station and check you have sound, if you do all the wiring etc is OK and the problem is inside the nav
If there are no more analogue TV stations in your area, get your old video recorder or DVD player or playstation with an RF output. set it up close to the car, stick a bit of wire about 6 inches long in the antenna socket that would normally go to the TV, and the video recorder becomes a mini TV station. You will be able to tune in to it on the car. Make sure the country settings in the TV tuner are correct for your country - for the UK, it is PAL-I
If sound is there then you know the problem is not in the car.
If no sound, you need to start looking into the cars wiring.
For the nav: if in doubt as to what SW is loaded, reload the software with standard, current version BMW software. What version is loaded?
I believe you have a Mk4?
