Being the first to make awd standard isn't the end all, esp considering that was decades ago. If anything, they're being left behind as far as drivetrain tech goes. They better adopt the direct-yaw concept quickly if they want to keep up in vehicle dynamics, because it really is revolutionary.

My premise for the Q5 being crap is based on looking at what the Q7 is like to drive. I've driven loaner X3 3.0 auto's and never had a problem with the transmission. Nobody is even close to BMW in the crossover segment in terms of vehicle dynamics, and Audi is certainly one of the farther away ones so far.
