looks like we may have found the problem, it has been diagnosed as the crank case oil breather? It supposed to filter the oil and send it back down the the sump/pan. When the is blocked oil started to be forced through the gaskets/seals and ends up getting burnt in the engine. We wont know for sure until I get the top off next week but I have been assured it isn't a damaged engine.
