BMW Australia changed to MKIV at the same time as the rest of the world.
You need a MKIV nav to add speed cameras, so that might be a reason to upgrade.
Have you had a look at an original whereis update disk? They seem to suggest they include fixed speed camera poi. I have only ever got the discs from BMW. I am sure BMW remove & add some information as their POI information seems less comprehensive that other Nav systems I have seen.
