Is this normal or something to be concerned about?
There is a small fan installed in the air-con control panel behind the L/H grill. This fan seems to start when the car wakes up (unlocking or opening a door) and stops when the car goes to sleep (some minutes after the car is locked or door closed). The fan draws air across a sensor in the panel and, if it is anything like mine, it is quite noisy. If you put your ear up against the panel you should be able to hear if it is coming from this spot. I am also under the impression that the later Final Stage Resistor is more reliable than the earlier version. I have a 2005 Diesel 6 speed man.
Colin.
