Looking over this part of your post i wonder how (aside from getting something new) You can justify the change to a "Mercury Milan".

How much will the "Mercury Milan" cost?
Will it be more over time than the repairs to your BMW?
Think about it for a moment. If anything fix up the 3er
and keep er. No car note is a good thing IMHO.
