Um, I always love the "on par with Europe" whenever gas prices are discussed. Again, 2001-2007 Europe saw a 90% price increase, the USA saw a 310%+ increase....um...maybe Europe needs to be "on par"
SUV's be illegal, that is...ahh..dumb. Airlines, Cruise ships and the like burn FAR more fuel then any SUV could. You could take an Excursion hauling a 24' boat and not have as crappy mpg as a cruise ship. Just goes to show how some have NO IDEA what drives fuel costs. Take a look at the growth in India and China as a direct result of US trade agreements. The last 10 years of US outsourcing has lead to sprawl in Asia, result...vast increase in the need for fuel.
To quote R&T: There is no more fuel efficient way to move 4,000lbs 20 miles then a gallon of gasoline.
