Edit: I do have a WeatherTech rear cargo floor liner from
day 2, but that's just to keep the continual load of plants,
mulch and stuff off the orig carpet.
I agree with you that's is a matter of preference. Carpet does feel good. But on days that suddenly rain, it's nice to have liners. Plus as alexmish said they are indispensible if you have kids. Spilling a drink on the liners are so much easier to clean up than if it was spilled on carpet. Also comes in handy if you are buying to-go by yourself and sauce from the food somehow comes out.
