I guess it depends on what one's first Nav unit is , First one I ever used was TomTom which I have been using for 4yrs now hence dependent on it and no other Manufacturer .

Maybe the software on your TomTom is not upto date. I do get guidiance via the tunnel(though not Satellite). Well longest turnell I've ever went into is about 1.5miles (Blackwall in London)

At the mo, I just switch off the X5 Nav or leave it on for dash display and then use my TomTom. STill good to have the BMW version though cos it keeps the value of the car up
