There are towing hooks totally different and nothing is visible when the hook is removed!

Additionally we don't have brakingsystems that require input from the vehicle (you call it a brake box). In europe heavy trailers have a thing between the trailer and the hook that is pushed together when the vehicle brakes and the trailers tries to keep moving. With that pressure the brakes of the trailer are also braking.

Totally different looks between europe and USA but also different laws and techniques.
